SmartBoard For Smart Kids

Teachers, school administrators and Government officials are increasingly regarding information and communications technology (ICT) to be an essential component of producing the best results from their education programs. Throughout the world, the use of ICT-enabled education is growing but emerging markets lag behind more mature markets in adopting this technology because of budget constraints that limit their ability to invest in ICT.

SMART Technologies, the global market leader in interactive whiteboards, is introducing the SMART Board V280 interactive whiteboard that is priced approximately 30 percent lower than other SMART Boards to provide a cost-effective option to deliver ICT-enabled education.

Several studies have shown the benefits and advantages of using interactive whiteboards in classrooms. These boards are highly effective in engaging students and focusing their attention. This allows the students to absorb information more quickly and with greater ease. And because the contents of an interactive whiteboard can be downloaded into digital format for later distribution, students are freed from note taking and can more readily participate in classroom discussions.

The SMART Board V280 offers users 77” (195.6cm) of laminated active screen area that is large enough for use in classrooms with many students. Users write on the V280 in digital ink using a battery-operated pen that is also used to operate the other features of the V280. Using a USB cable to connect the V280 to a computer, users can access and control any of the computer’s features and applications, including multimedia, Internet and other applications. The V280 also comes with SMART Technologies’ award-winning Notebook™ collaborative learning software that supports 41 languages, including Malay.

The Malaysian Government has been promoting ICT especially in the education sector and this creates a possibly very bright future for SMART Interactive whiteboards. Current users include University of Malaya, International Islamic University, Garden International School and a number of smart schools in Malaysia.
